Des-Case Corporation announces DC-OC2

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2001

Protects both system lubricants and the environment

Des-Case Corporation today unveiled its oil coalescing breather, which provides 2-micron filtration for gear-driven pumps and other applications that emit
oil mist. The product, identified as the DC-OC2, offers two-fold benefits by protecting both system lubricants and the environment.

“This product was born at the request of one of our paper mill customers,” said Jim Waller, president of Des-Case Corporation. “They identified the need which led us to this new product rollout. The DC-OC2 fills a void in the marketplace.”

The Des-Case oil coalescing breather is a simple, yet effectively designed breather cap. The plastic housing contains a foam filter to disperse air and a microglass oil coalescing media that prohibits entry of abrasive contaminants and captures oil mist. Oil droplets are then recycled back into the system. The breathers are rated for 5 cfm and incorporate a standard 3/8″ female standpipe connector. A cost-effective solution for a large number of applications, the breathers are disposable and require changeover about every six months.

Like all Des-Case breathers, the DC-OC2 reduces unnecessary wear and tear on equipment, prolonging the life of both machinery and lubricants.

Headquartered in White House, Tenn., Des-Case is one of the largest providers of desiccant breathers to a wide variety of industries. The companies’ products feature a design unparalleled in the marketplace and are protected by two U.S. patents. Des-Case breathers are sold through an international distribution network.

Des-Case Corporation expands representation into Asian countries

Saturday, January 15th, 2000

Distribution agreements in Japan, China boost international presence

Des-Case Corporation, the pioneer in desiccant breather technology, has expanded its worldwide business with distribution agreements in China and Japan. These new agreements with Taisei Kogyo Co., Ltd., Tokyo, and Shanghai SAIJI Chemicals Co., Ltd., Shanghai reflect an increasing global demand for fluid protection products.

As authorized distributors, the two companies will introduce the Asian market to a full line of Des-Case breathers designed for contamination control on gearboxes, hydraulic reservoirs, and storage vessels. Replacing the standard breather cap, the patented technology prevents damaging water and particulate from entering these units. Des-Case breathers are available in a variety of sizes and materials to meet the needs of virtually any industry application.

“The market for Des-Case products is growing rapidly—both domestically and internationally—as demands for clean, dry air supported by our products increase. We are building the team and product lines necessary to play a dominant role as the market continues to unfold,” said Brian Gleason, General Manager of Des-Case Corporation. “Our new distribution partners will keep us in the forefront of delivering these products to the Asian market.”

Des-Case Corporation broadens disposable breather line

Friday, November 12th, 1999

DC-1 complements existing products, offers options for smaller applications

Des-Case Corporation, a leading supplier of desiccant breathers to the hydraulics industry, has recently introduced model DC-1 to its product base. The DC-1 was designed for contamination control on small gearboxes and hydraulic reservoirs and replaces the standard breather cap on these units.

“Our breathers incorporate a unique filtration process that provides much needed protection that you do not get in a standard breather cap,” said Jim Waller, president of Des-Case Corporation. The patented design prevents water and particulate from entering the fluid-containing reservoir, eliminating lubrication failure and extending the life of both the lubricants and the machinery.

A major feature of the new product is its size. At 5″ tall and 2.75″ diameter, the DC-1 is a step up from the recently released Des-Case Button Breather. It was designed for those who need a slightly increased adsorption capacity, but still have tight or confined installation areas. The units are constructed of durable, shock-absorbing plastic components and incorporate a three-step filtration process. The first layer of protection is a knitted polyester filter element, which
retains particulate matter from incoming air. Air then passes through desiccant beads that adsorb and remove water vapors. As air is drawn into the reservoir or gearbox, it passes through a final polyester filter element.

Des-Case Corporation introduces ‘Button Breather’

Monday, July 19th, 1999

Small package design broadens application of reservoir breathers.

White House, Tenn.-Des-Case Corporation, a leading manufacturer of hygroscopic breathers,
has recently introduced the Button Breather™ to its complete line of disposable products.
Incorporating one of the industry’s smallest case dimensions, the new breather is designed to
replace the standard breather cap on small gearboxes and hydraulic reservoirs. The patented
design eliminates lubrication system contamination and allows optimal performance of industrial
machinery.

“Several Des-Case distributors identified the need for this product in the plants of key customers.
Successful beta site tests at Ford North America, Kansas City Power and Light, and Georgia
Pacific have led us to this initial product offering,” said Jim Waller, president of Des-Case
Corporation. “With the addition of the Button Breather, Des-Case now has breathers for virtually
any size gearbox. This will aid installation on smaller equipment and in tight or confined areas,
multiplying the uses for our product.”

The body of the Des-Case Button Breather-model DC-BB measures 3″ tall and 2.75″ in diameter
and encompasses three layers of protection. These include a knitted polyester filter element to
retain particulate matter from incoming air, desiccant beads to adsorb and remove water vapors,
and a second knitted polyester filter for a final pass as air is drawn into the reservoir or gearbox.
As clean, dry air is expelled through the breather, there is a partial regeneration of the desiccant
and extension of the period before replacement is necessary.
